Week 6, Day 3

Today was a rest or run/walk day on the training schedule. I took advantage of the rest part of the plan due to a work task. I knew I wouldn't be able to get out of the gym in time this morning to be on time to my task this morning for work.

In other news, my abdominal muscles are sore as all get out! I did 2 different exercises yesterday and boy can I feel it! It hurts to cough and laugh. Woe is me. ;~)

Week 6, Day 2

Training this morning called for a 2.75 mile run. I accomplished the task, just not a straight 2.75 miles. I walked 1 lap, ran 11 laps, walked 1 lap, ran 11, walked 1 more lap. In all, I did 3 miles, but I ran the total 2.75 miles.

I'm less than 3 weeks away from the run.

Week 6, Day 1

No, I didn't make it the gym this morning. I stayed up way too late doing random stuff. I just knew when I turned off the light that I wasn't going to make my workout this morning even though I was ready to go (gym bag packed). Oh well, its okay. My schedule states that today is a rest or run/walk day. I will make it there tomorrow.

Week 5, Day 7

Today was a very cold walk day. Despite my profession of such a beautiful day yesterday, today was not so much. Yes, the sky was clear and the sun was out, but so was the wind. The wind made the different today. I checked the temperature prior to heading out and and it was listed as 35 degrees. Unfortunately, I didn't see the wind chill temperature. I decided to put on some layers and head out for a 50-60 minute trek.

Well, about 10 minutes into the walk the wind picked up and it was just bitterly cold. I pressed on though and completed 53 minutes in all. My hands were like ice when I finally made it back home. I spent some time rubbing them together to heat them back up. Brr.

Week 5, Day 6

I didn't quite reach my running goal this morning. My guide stated that I was supposed to do 2. 5 miles. Since the weather was nice, I decided to run in my neighborhood this morning. I was guestimating on the distance by the lenght of time it took me to run. I was out for a little over 20 minutes. I just new I had to be close to two and a half miles. Well, I was a bit off. I decided to clock the route I ran in my car and it was 1.8 miles. Oh well, at least I was out there. :>)

In other news, I took my bike in to the shop today for a tune-up. Since the weather is warming up, I know that I will want to go riding soon and I thought it best to get the bike checked out. Luckily the bike shop wasn't too busy and they did it right on the spot.

Week 5, Day 5

Noticed a pattern about Day 6? It is always a rest day. Yay! Although it is a rest day, I never can seem to sleep in. I automatically awaken at the time that I do on Monday-Thursday, about 5:30 am. That is fine, I just don't have to get out of the bed so early. I can lie there and slowly get myself moving. Which is what I did this AM.

Week 5, Day 4

I pushed myself to complete a 2 mile run in under 20 minutes. I ran at a very fast pace this AM and I reached my goal. My total time was 19:30. My split time was pretty good. Mile 1 was done in 9 min 30 sec and mile 2 was completed in 10 min. I think that is a good pace. I'm hoping to complete the 5k in under 30 minutes. I need to increase my pace slightly in order to do so.

I also did my usual abdominal workout and stretched.

Week 5, Day 3

This morning's workout was much better, no easier, than yesterday. I did a 2 mile run/walk, but I didn't push myself as I did yesterday. Recall that the indoor track is 8 laps for 1 mile. I walked 4, jogged 8, sprinted 2, and walked 2. I concluded with an abdominal workout and stretched.

Week 5, Day 2

Dreadful.

That was the answer when I was asked by a lady in the gym this morning, "How was your run on the treadmill?" I tell ya, that treadmill whips my butt! I did complete the necessary mileage this morning, 2.5 miles, but it was difficult. It took me 28 minutes which is a much slower pace than my 9 min. mile. Ultimately, I would like to complete the 5K in under 30 minutes. We'll see....

Week 4, Days 6 & 7 and Week 5, Day 1

I traveled once again this past weekend, but I got my training in. Saturday morning I ran for 24 minutes. According to the schedule, I was supposed to do 2.25 miles. I can only hope that is what I accomplished.

I got back to town early Sunday afternoon and I headed to the gym for a 50 minute walk on the treadmill. After that I id an abdominal workout and stretched.

I was not up to working out this morning. Luckily, week 5, day 1 states "rest or run/walk." I chose the rest. I may go for a walk after work today. We'll see.
